KUCCPS cluster points for courses 2023/2024 and how to calculate cluster points
It is always at this point in time when most people get confused and worry a lot about how to go about course selection and the institutions to go to. All students who sat for the Kenya Curriculum Secondary Examination and managed to score a C+ and above will join campuses as Government sponsored and those who scored a C plain or C- will join to do diploma courses. Those who scored D+ and bellow will have to pursue certificate courses. We are going to give a summery/ simplified KUCCPS cluster points for caoses 2022/2023 and how to calculate cluster points.
If you sat for the KCSE examination, you need to stay updated on the changes and revisions for courses. Thanks to the digital revolution, the placement application process has been automated, and applications can be submitted online from the comfort of your home. The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS ) has simplified most things and everything now is workable. The main function of KUCCPS is to place the students who are sponsored by the government into institutions of higher learning.
During the KUCCPS intake, candidates are invited to submit their applications to join their tertiary institution of choice. KUCCPS cluster points for courses are the the ones to dictate the type of course to take and the institution to join. There are minimum grade requirements that need to be fulfilled by the students who wish to be placed by KUCCPS.
A minimum of C- (minus) and above will be required as the eligibility criteria for diploma courses. Average of grade 'D' score will be eligible for craft certificate courses in public colleges. Students who scored an aggregate of C+ grade and above will be selected for the degree placement procedure in both private and public universities, and their degree will be sponsored by the government.
How to calculate cluster points
The calculation of KUCCPS cluster points will now be easier for you.
C=[√ (r/R* t/T)]*48 Where r -sum of 4 cluster sbj R=48 t – your grade pts T=84
applying the kuccps weighted cluster points formula – step by step
- Take the sum of points in the 4 subjects considered in whatever course you wish to take then divide by 48( maximum points in those 4 subjects)…
- Take your total points divide by 84, e.g 72/84….
- Multiply answer A by answer B then get the squareroot of the product…
- Multiply the squareroot you get in (C) above by 48, that gives the weighted cluster points.
or =[√ (r/R* t/T)]*48 Where r -sum of 4 cluster sbj R=48 t – your grade pts T=84
Note: The sign * means multiplication
This is just for you to calculate and own the results of the calculation if you have any doubt because the KUCCPS student portal cluster points calculation is automatic. The portal automatically calculates your cluster points when you apply for a course. Once you log in to the portal, you will be able to see whether you qualify for the course or not. The KUCCPS application can be made online. Here is a step by step guide you should follow if you want to revise the KUCCPS courses:
1. First, you have to browse the KUCCPS website and log in. You will require all your valuable documents like your birth certificate, index number and the year you sat for the KCSE examination.
2. Once you have logged in, go to the courses, and click on the program one you want to browse.
3. You are required to pay a certain amount for the revision of your course selection. For that, you have to go to M-Pesa on your phone then select the pay bill option Enter business NO: 820201. You should enter the account number, which is the year you sat for KCSE, followed by your index number. Enter the details of your examination number, enter the amount(the revision charges are Ksh. 1000 for candidates who applied in school and Ksh. 1500 for those who hadn't applied in school) and send.
Out of the 90,744 2020 KCSE candidates eligible for placement to degree courses, 22,957 did not get any of their choices on a competitive basis. Hence, the second revision of courses was conducted by KUCCPS, where the students were invited to revise their course selections. It can be figured from the statistics that out of the 90,744 students, 67,787 students who scored between A and C+ in the 2020 form four examination got placed into degree courses of their choice.
KUCCPS online application support conducted by the placement service offers placement in a number of colleges and universities across the country.
